Harold Rakestraw was born March 20, 1941, in Sherman, TX, and passed away September 13, 2016, in Houston, TX.

Harold attended Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M universities and worked for several engineering companies as a pressure vessel and storage tank designer and drafter.

After he retired, he enjoyed his skill saw woodworking. He spent many hours along with his cat "Miss Kitty" watching him at his saw and work bench. He also kept himself busy just fixing things, for his family, the neighbors, and friends. His grandsons believed Pop Pop could...

After he retired, he enjoyed his skill saw woodworking. He spent many hours along with his cat "Miss Kitty" watching him at his saw and work bench. He also kept himself busy just fixing things, for his family, the neighbors, and friends. His grandsons believed Pop Pop could fix anything. He also loved jigsaw puzzles and cross word puzzles.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Effie Rakestraw of Lufkin, TX, and his brothers Roy Dale and Louie Gene Rakestraw.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Madelyn Rakestraw, son Danny Rakestraw of Las Vegas, NV, daughter Susan and husband John Stasney of Houston, Grandsons Jensen and Hunter Stasney of Houston, Sisters Martha Wideman and Mary Crawford of Lufkin, TX. Many extended family and friends.

Friends are invited to visitation with the family on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Earthman Hunters Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12:00 pm at College Park Baptist Church, 7887 Beechnut Street, Houston, TX 77074, with Pastor Zane Crawford officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
